Through Jesus, Born of God

“The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God — children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”

~John 1:9-13 (NIV).

Spoken from a perspective of the future, as it commences, John places everyone in front of the reality of the Christ coming into the world. This world did not recognise that salvation was coming and that it indeed had arrived. Indeed, it killed salvation — or at least it attempted to. Killing the Saviour, however, merely brought completion to God’s redemptive plan from its origin.

But, there were those who responded to the God-light — and there are those who continue to respond.

There is No Light Without God

Is it conscionable that God could come to the world and not fill it with Spiritual light, purging the darkness? Not only is it inconceivable that God would enter the world and not completely fill it with Spiritual light — the evidence, creation and ‘lighted’ lives — it’s inconceivable that there can be light without God.

As God is love, God is also light.

Rejecting the Founder

What honours we bestow on our earthly founders, though the ones not redeeming due credit go without any honour. Jesus is not only the real Founder, but he founded everything. And still he’s pinned to the Calvary tree! Would there be a more dubious honour?

We not only rejected life and love and light and legacy, we spat in its face. Incredibly, it’s not only what God predicted, he knew it would occur this way.

But Not Everyone Rejected The Founder of Light and Life

John is the voice in the wilderness, holding a solitary flame high and bold.

The secret wisdom of God was made known to a few — those who reached out with open minds and hearts — those not genuinely of this world.

To these the Son was born — even though he always was. And to these a requiem of benevolence was given. What apparently ended as an unparalleled disaster, did in one moment — for all eternity — become the most momentous reversal, and those who claim this truth as their very own have inherited sonship and daughtership — the only true kind.

The Rebirth Reality

Those born of God are born anew and afresh of the Spirit of Jesus. They claim him as their vital and personal Saviour. They’re not born any other way than via a fervent and radiant belief in the Son of God — who came to take away the sin of the world and, not less, their sin.

These sons and daughters of God, then, radiate the majesty and mystery of God — they’re redeemed and free, finally.
