Worthy Is the Lamb

“In a loud voice [the angels] sang:
‘Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!’”
~Revelation 5:12 (NIV [adapted]).
We ought to never tire of the root of the gospel message—Jesus hung on the cross for our eternal sin. And he alone is now worthy... entirely worthy... of so many innumerable things.
This fact generates much praise in our hearts, of course; simply to know that God would do this... that God would carry out something we would or could never do—to be as white as snow, as no one was before, then or since, and yet become crimson... for us; to the very last one.
One Day We Too Will Sing
This is one verse that I felt God was compelling me to learn in the original Greek and then to pray, chant, ruminate and dedicate—as the Spirit led.
And so I do...
In the midst of any moment as it approaches, and commonly in worship services, I’ll throw up this almost silent praise of all praises to the Lord of Glory:
Axion estin to arnion, to esphagmenon labein tayne, dunamin kai pluton kai sophian kai iskun kai timayne kai doxan kai eulogian. (Spelt phonetically.)
This fact remains: one day soon we’ll join with the angels to sing God’s eternal praises.
Worthy Alone is the Lamb that was Slain
What a joyous thing it is to behold a Saviour who has completed this victory over sin so long before we were even born—that we were reconciled back to God nearly two thousand years ago.
And, still, we’re afforded by God the very choice to choose for or against God—this God who puts such a compelling case for love before us. Too many people will choose to go to the other side of the cross—to that reality pre-Jesus—insane as it is.
But, we can know that we’re destined to live guilt free and in determination to live after Jesus’ way—the way of growth right through the lifespan, ‘singing’ better for this growth as we go!
