The Cross, His Hanging and My Sin

The cross of Jesus Christ is:

The greatest, most paradoxical truth ever, a living truth;

God’s momentously eternal sacrifice for you and me;

Headlong death, in faith, for life—the only true life;

Repulsive to the yet unsaved—an inconvenient, irrelevant putrid absurdity;

A fresh lesson for us (lived) each day—if we’ll go its narrow way;

Sacrifice, so that we too might know sacrifice;

True knowledge of my standing with God—before and after—an amazing, overwhelming image;

A beacon to an entirely better way;

The way to and the basis of truth, finally;

Deeply personal. God did this thing I never could simply so I could know him and crucially, so I too could know myself.
